Wills and Trust Language

Bequest language that can be used in a gift by will or living trust:

I give and bequeath to Indian River Medical Center Foundation, a not-for-profit corporation organized under the Laws of the State of Florida and having its principal office at 1000 36th Street, Vero Beach, FL 32960.

To make a cash bequest:

the sum of $_________ to be used by Indian River Medical Center for its general purposes.

To give a percentage of the estate:

_______ percent of my estate to be used by Indian River Medical Center for its general purposes.

To give a residual amount or remaining interest:

the rest, residue and remainder of my estate after all debts, expenses and taxes have been paid and all the general and specific bequests have been made, to be used by Indian River Medical Center for its general purposes.

To give a tangible asset or property:

_______ shares of common stock of __________ (or insert here a description of other property) owned by me at my death as these shares shall exist at the date of my death, to be used by Indian River Medical Center for its general purposes.

When securities are held in an account at a brokerage firm or a bank, they may be transferred electronically. The Foundation has an account with State Street Bank & Trust receiving gifts of securities.

Please call in advance advising them that the securities are forthcoming, so they can authorize acceptance to facilitate the transfer.

Also, please notify the Foundation office as soon as you have indicated your stock transfer transaction. Oftentimes stocks are transferred through a clearinghouse and the donor’s name is inadvertently omitted.
