Planned Giving

What's New

NLU’s Heritage Society – a planned giving community – is taking shape. It’s our hope to provide support and advice to our friends and alumni members.

Did you know that the majority of people in our country don’t understand what “Planned Giving” is?  Philanthropic “giving” comes in many forms including gifts of time, treasure, and talent.

A “Planned Gift” is a gift of “treasure” and typically involves a documented agreement between a donor and a non-profit organization. Planned gifts allow people to receive specific tax benefits, depending on the type of giving vehicle they use to share their hard earned resources. Working hand in hand with an accountant or an estate lawyer, friends or alumni members can make multi-year gifts during their lifetime or simply add a bequest in one’s will.  These “gifts” can be pledges of property, insurance policies, annuities, or charitable trusts which then can provide an income stream to the donor.

Planned gifts often are an individual’s best opportunity to make a significant contribution to one or more organizations and they are an indication that an individual has made these important plans.  Half the people in the United States don’t have a will, so working with us will start you down the road of taking control of how your assets will be distributed.  If you have questions or would like to talk about making a planned gift yourself, please don’t hesitate to email or call:
